Lot Title:
1868 Indian Head Cent 165 Degree CW Rot. Dies Error. PCGS PF-64RD.
Description:
This date is sometimes observed with dies aligned 180 degrees or so from the normal orientation of coinage dies, therefore it is labeled as being a blunder. It exhibits a fiery orange-red aspect with harmonizing rose and violet iridescent toning. Slightly more than 600 Proofs were issued for this popular year. A slight sprinkling of specks on the reverse no doubt account for the ascribed grade. The design elements are highly pronounced.
