(About The Images)
1817 VF-35. 1817 VF-35.
Lot Title: 1817 VF-35.
Description: This O-105, Rarity-4 was struck from a shattered obverse die. An original, uncleaned example of this interesting variety. A few old scratches are noted for accuracy. These are, for the most part, concealed by its natural charcoal-gray tones.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Low Estimate: $120.00
High Estimate: $180.00

646The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$370.00
1817 (O-106), 1818/7 (O-102a), and 1819/8 (O-103a).
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Strong details push the XF level for this trio, with some caveats noted. We offer them as: 1817 O-106 (VF but slightly cleaned), 1818/7 O-102a (XF with...
647The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$450.00
1817 (O-106a, R.4+) XF.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Cleaned or lightly polished at one time, each side now sports unexpectedly attractive rim toning. O-106a was considered "rare" about two decades ago, but likely...
721The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$0.00
1817 "No Dot" (O-103a, R.3) XF.
CONSIGNOR: You got me this one! CATALOGER: (Ex. B&M Galleries Russell J. Logan & Gilbert G. Steinberg 11/2002: 1450) It is interesting that the Forest Park collection contains two 1817 O-103, this...
722The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$140.00
1817 (O-105a, R.4) VF.
Struck from a shattered obverse die, O-105 always shows at least a full grade discrepancy between the two sides. In addition, the uneven die surfaces produced coins that always suffered from odd...
723The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$450.00
1817 (O-110, R.2) AU.
Superb album target toning energizes both sides and provides the eye appeal for this lovely and fairly well struck bust half. Classic iridescent green and blue colors surround the periphery,...
724The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$875.00
1817 "Dotted Date" (O-103, R.2) AU.
CONSIGNOR: Nice, smooth coin, I think you sold me this one some years ago. Seems like the color glows from inside the coin. CATALOGER: Though struck from the "dotted date" obverse, the dot is not...
725The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$500.00
1817 (O-111, R.1) PCI MS-64 [AU].
From a technical standpoint, it is reasonable to consider this a "slider" AU-58, with pleasing luster and plenty of original tone that adds character and class. Mint-green color surrounds the stars...
551The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$390.00
1817 O-110 NGC AU-50 and 1828 Curl Base 2, No Knob PCGS XF-40.
Original battleship grey fields are a bit lacking in luster for the AU grade assigned the 1817, and the strike is inordinately flat, even for a coin struck in the teens. Numerous tiny grease marks...
552The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$315.00
1817 O-107 PCGS AU-50.
Only lightly patinated on both sides, with just a hint of glossy texture occupying the fields. Each side displays a delicate touch of lavender tint. Easily attributed by the widely recut...
575The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$575.00
1817 PCGS AU-53.
Lots of luster remains on this originally toned and conservatively graded example. Rich dark blue and violet toning circles the peripheries, while a golden color borders Liberty. Only minimal signs...
1402The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$7,250.00
1817 O-106, R-3. PCGS MS-64.
This "Single Leaf" variety is exquisitely toned in pastel shades of blue, gold, and rose. Although virtually flawless, the surfaces exhibit only a scant amount of hairlines and flecks underneath...
