(About The Images)
1872 AU-58. 1872 AU-58.
Lot Title: 1872 AU-58.
Description: A mere 2,030 pieces were struck this year, and, like this specimen, they all depict a prooflike aspect. It glows with a yellow-orange iridescence and shows just the barest trace of wear on its highest design elements. Minimal ticks are perceived on this admirable strike.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

869The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$1,600.00
1872 NGC AU-53.
Absolutely problem-free, with no unusual marks or stains on either side. Any 1872 figures to see use as a type coin, since it is one of the common issues in the three-dollar gold series.
463The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$2,000.00
1872 PCGS AU-53.
It is instantly obvious that the eye-appeal derives from what had to be a prooflike strike. Even with seven points of wear (really friction), the fields display remnants of strong reflectivity, with...
766The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$1,700.00
1872 PCGS AU-53.
Slightly brilliantish and appealing in that regard, this appears to be a surprisingly original coin given the amount of remaining reflectivity. Closer examination reveals a little grunge built up...
999The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$2,100.00
1872 NGC AU-53.
Residual effects of a semi-prooflike finish can be observed within the best protected areas and around the portrait. Little actual wear is evident, but the lemon yellow fields have been expectedly...
1000The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$2,300.00
1872 ANACS AU-55.
Only 2,030 pieces are recorded being struck. Its satiny surfaces are prooflike and support frosty motifs. Random hairlines in the fields are perceived on this vibrant, splendidly struck issue.
