(About The Images)
1928-D PCGS MS-65. 1928-D PCGS MS-65.
Lot Title: 1928-D PCGS MS-65.
Description: Brock Megran Collection. Many poorly struck so-called "scoop head" examples exist for 1928-D, making this fairly well-struck example quite a find for the astute collector who refuses to pay a 900% premium for one square millimeter of extra sharpness on a coin. The obverse seems to be fully pristine for this chrome-white example, although a hint of fuzzy haze can be seen within the field beneath the eagle... and you are the wind beneath my wings. (PCGS# 005768)

Lot #AuctionCurrent Bid or Hammer PriceDescription
550The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$360.00
1928-D PCGS MS-65 (rattler).
1928-D is about ten times more expensive with a "full head" designation, so a reasonably defined example like this forms a suitably affordable alternative. Scoop heads are common for the date, and...
508The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$575.00
1928-D NGC MS-64 and 1929-D NGC MS-65.
Both of these Denver Standing Liberty quarters are exceedingly blast white and certified by NGC. 1928-D is graded MS-64 and displays some softness of strike that is common to the issue, while 1929-D...
509The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$525.00
1928-D NGC MS-66.
1928-D tends to come with mundane strike details, and this one is a little above average from that standpoint. Though by no means in contention for a "full head" designation, there is some decent...
398The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$575.00
1928-D PCGS MS-66.
A 1928-D Standing Liberty quarter in a PCGS MS-66 slab.
349The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$550.00
1928-D NGC MS-66.
Jaw dropping luster overwhelms untoned surfaces and provides the impetus for terrific eye-appeal. Probably a little better than average for strike, but Liberty's head is peppered with tiny ticks, and...
657The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$500.00
1928-D PCGS MS-66.
No loupe is required to ascertain that this is a special coin, as innate lime-gold surface iridescence embraces the potent mint luster, energizing the eye appeal. Fine die cracks penetrate the...
465The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$500.00
1928-D PCGS MS-65.
Exceedingly bright surfaces dominate the appearance of this later Standing Liberty quarter with glistening brilliance, but the prudent numismatist who takes the time to examine details using his...
1085The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$370.00
1928-D PCGS MS-65.
This dazzling example is accentuated with a vibrant satiny luster. A delicate breath of golden iridescence adds to its visual appeal. Some minute specks and a few slight scuffs are noted on the...
1322The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$380.00
1928-D NGC MS-65.
Fully lustrous with wet-looking surfaces. It is likely that just about everybody will consider this coin PQ as the obverse looks like an MS-66+. The head is a little flat, which is common, but the...
564The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$320.00
1928-D MS-64+.
The vibrant brilliance that radiates from this breathtaking Denver Branch Mint issue conceals a scant sprinkling of ticks from the naked eye. A much bolder strike is evident on Liberty's head and...
