(About The Images)
1866 NGC PF-66 Ultra Cameo. 1866 NGC PF-66 Ultra Cameo.
Lot Title: 1866 NGC PF-66 Ultra Cameo.
Description: Astonishing contrast looks exactly as one would expect from the NGC UCAM designation. This is pretty much as close as a 3-cent nickel can get to black-and-white contrast. Two slight depressions on Liberty's cheek may be preventing an even higher grade, but they are so slight that the amazing frost has really not even been disturbed by the contact. "8" in the date has a tine ejecting from the top that suggests errant placement of an effaced underdigit. An utterly astonishing superior gem that deserves placement in the finest-looking proof type set! (PCGS# 093762)

374The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$2,800.00
1866 PCGS MS-66 CAC.
Exuberant rainbow toning flows across the upper third of the obverse and lower third of the reverse, and amplifies the eye-appeal substantially beyond the assessed MS-66 grade. Struck from clashed...
325The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$3,600.00
1866 NGC PF-66 Ultra Cameo.
The jaw-dropping quality must be seen to be believed. This is an incredibly attractive crown jewel that could not look any brighter and could not be any lighter had it been struck on a liquid air...
443The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$450.00
Twenty-seven 1866 three-cent nickel varieties.
There are attributed and unattributed 1866 three-cent nickels in this grouping, with many of the coins set aside by Allan for further review. For example, some are stated as being "unlisted", or "new...
444The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$475.00
Seven 1866 three-cent nickel varieties.
ANACS and PCI have encapsulated this group, with several attributed three-cent nickels among them. They may be summarized as follows: 1866 B04a RPD-001 "plate" (ANACS AU-55), 1866 B05a RPD-002...
445The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$600.00
1866 NGC MS-64.
The NGC grading insert succinctly states "MS-64", but that is a painfully inadequate expression of the very high "coolness factor" offered. Both sides exhibit dramatic clash marks, and these dies...
446The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$1,050.00
1866 (P01) PCGS PF-65.
1866 P01. Intricately struck, the devices exude nice matte texture, while the fields glow with luminous reflectivity. The entire coin is bathed in attractive apricot-gold, though both sides are...
348The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$400.00
1866 NGC PF-64.
Contrary to the hasty manner in which business strike three-cent nickels were produced, early proofs were meticulously struck, and this 1866 example displays exceptionally sharp details. In years...
