1879 ANACS PF-55/cleaned, and an 1888 PF-60/cleaned. 1879 ANACS PF-55/cleaned, and an 1888 PF-60/cleaned.
Lot Title: 1879 ANACS PF-55/cleaned, and an 1888 PF-60/cleaned.
Description: Steve Deckling Collection. Famous small ANACS holders encapsulate this pair of proof Seated Liberty half-dollars, but both coins have "cleaned" indicated on the slab labels. 1879 (net PF-55) features obvious aluminum-white hairlining of the fields, but has recovered a fairly pleasing presence of rim toning on both sides, with a reverse that actually has a lot of die-polish in the fields unfairly mimicking hairlines. 1888 (net PF-60) shows strong vertical wiping hairlines only at limited viewing angles, and substantial patina has recovered for both sides to greatly lessen the negative connotation of wiped surfaces. Two coin lot.

1879 MS-60/lightly wiped.
Both sides of this prooflike coin display strike doubling around the peripheral areas. A lower mint state grade would be appropriate if not for impact damage through "ERT" on the shield. Still, this...

1879 NGC PF-64.
A couple of stray tiny marks are evident on the deeply reflective surfaces, yet not nearly enough for it to be considered anything but a Proof-64. The devices on both sides are nice and white, yet...
