Lot Title:
1883 NGC PF-65.
Description:
Substantial haze occupies the fields and could be presumed a distraction by some collectors, especially as it has the effect of attenuating contrast. But putting a loupe on the surface reveals very pleasing quality that includes the expected exceptional detailing of all the devices, including every single kernel of grain on Liberty's perch. Indeed, this is one of those unusual pieces that actually enjoys scrutiny, as magnification allows appreciation of the artistic quality and capabilities of the late 19th century mint. A gem proof that gets better and better the longer one looks at it. (PCGS# 007063)
