Lot Title:
1860 NGC AU-55.
Description:
Thick, lovely ash-grey patina blends with blonde-gold to produce the very desirable "dirty gold" effect that astute collectors today clamor for. Many coins with this appearance are said to derive from old European hoards, where they remained unaltered and well preserved for numerous decades. A pair of small oblong abrasions fall upon Liberty's cheek, but fade within the embrace of the strong patina, and either side displays tantalizing luster. (PCGS# 008929)
