(About The Images)
1830 Small 0 (O-111) AU/cleaned. 1830 Small 0 (O-111) AU/cleaned.
Lot Title: 1830 Small 0 (O-111) AU/cleaned.
Description: Courteous Collection of Early Type. At first glance, this 1830 O-111 does have the look of a fairly nice UNC, which is how it was carried in the consignor's personal notes. A closer look suggests the presence of very limited wear, and maybe also some subtle hairlines lurking beneath nice patina. AU-55+ details. (PCGS# 006156)

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

High Estimate: $400.00

691The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$650.00
1830 (O-104), 1832 (O-102), and 1834 (O-103), all Choice AU.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. These likely do not quite make the UNC grade that the consignor carried in his notes, but for sure, each sparkles with pleasing luster and relatively nice...
692The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$360.00
1830 Small 0 (O-107a) AU.
Ronald Zink Early Type Collection. Aluminum-white surfaces will obviously be too bright for this to be considered a fully original coin, but strong flowline luster shows no evidence of abrasive...
694The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$250.00
1830 Medium 0 (O-119) AU.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. The consignor placed emphasis on "unc" as his grade, but we suggest AU-50 to reflect the loss of some luster within the central field areas. Modest wear shows on...
695The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$525.00
1830 Large 0 (O-123) AU.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Luster and sharpness fall tantalizingly close to the "unc" level suggested by the consignor. Frosty as can be for AU-55, and the strike is extremely sharp,...
698The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$900.00
1830 (O-101) Small 0 PCGS AU-58.
Free-wheeling luster takes on a distinctive silver-tan appearance nearer the portrait, while the border area through the stars cedes to pale blue patina. Friction wear barely touches the high points...
819The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$290.00
1830 (O-120) Large O. AU.
7070 Collection. An appropriate grade should be AU-55, given the beautiful, pleasing, clean and lustrous overall appearance of this strikingly handsome bust half-dollar. Delicate pastel hues of...
697The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$3,600.00
1830 (Small 0, O-111, R.2) PCGS MS-64.
LIBERTY is nicely recut on the headband, and the first "A" in AMERICA is noticeably lower than the adjacent "M", leading to attribution as O-111. While not diagnostic, a common characteristic of...
492The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$550.00
1830 (O-119, R.1) NGC AU-58.
Pale mint luster seems all the more subdued in contrast to a very vibrant, thin accent of rainbow toning along the far right edge of the obverse. Liberty's portrait is subtly doubled on the left side,...
576The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$120.00
1830 Capped Bust half-dollar, XF-40, cleaned
An unattributed 1830 Capped Bust half-dollar. Apparently, the obverse is "obverse 7", but the reverse has not been attributed. Moderately cleaned.
586The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$190.00
1830 O-108 Small 0 PCGS XF-45.
Graphite color powders the entire surface of this exceedingly original bust half. The pleasing, thick patination muffles the underlying mint luster to some degree, probably resulting in the...
587The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$180.00
1830 O-108 "Small 0" AU-50.
Surprisingly difficult to grade, since the luster is extensive and frosty across both sides, yet somewhat patinated under steel grey toning. Wonderfully problem-free with regard to surface quality,...
588The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$320.00
1830 "small 0" O-107 PCGS AU-55.
The mahogany obverse displays some reflective luster at the margins, though the cartwheel effect is broken up in the fields by light circulation friction. Modest rub is visible on Liberty’s curls. ...
589The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$525.00
1830 Small 0, O-101, R-1. PCGS AU-55.
This specimen's silver-white surface quality is enhanced with an array of rose and blue tones. The handsome design motifs are complemented by its satinlike aspect. Some minuscule toning specs are...
590The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$875.00
1830 O-110 Small O PCGS AU-55.
Ex-Stack’s, June 1994, #1008. A fanatically original coin that displays an extremely thick, original skin and a bountiful supply of eye appeal. Though the obverse is colored predominantly with an...
591The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$3,800.00
1830 Small "O" PCGS MS-63 OGH.
A marvelous and seemingly endless supply of sparkling mint luster radiates readily from this breathtaking early half dollar. Champagne hues ripple and flow across the open fields on both sides,...
585The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$475.00
1830 O-108 Small 0 and 1830 O-120 Large 0. AU.
These coins are carefully matched and somewhat similar in appearance, especially on the obverse. Both display copious obverse mint luster, and they have similar strikes and silvery coloration, though...
586The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$475.00
1830 O-117, R-2. AU-58.
The gleaming surfaces of this barely circulated specimen are adorned with a russet-orange hue that is further enhanced with vestiges of eggshell blue. A meager number of faint hairlines are...
1428The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$575.00
1830 AU-58 Rainbow Toned.
This half dollar looks like a million dollar coin because of its flashy luster, breathtaking rainbow ring toning, and superior strike.
1429The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$2,200.00
1830 O-111, R-2 MS-60+.
Dazzling entwined tones of russet-orange and glossy blue embellish this issue's gleaming surfaces. A few minor surface digs are hardly worth the mentioning. The handsome design motifs are highly...
