(About The Images)
1806/5 (O-104a, R.5) VG/burnished. 1806/5 (O-104a, R.5) VG/burnished.
Lot Title: 1806/5 (O-104a, R.5) VG/burnished.
Description: Courteous Collection of Early Type. Some vigorous process has smoothed down the entire coin, likely with the intent of overcoming subtle microporosity. While possibly sharper than the VG-8 details we have assigned, the rather drab low-contrast patina isn't the ideal look for an early half-dollar like this. (PCGS# 006077)

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

513The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$310.00
1806/5 (O-103) VF/scratched/cleaned.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Prominent scratches can be seen descending down and left from the ends of the upper hair strands, and their unwelcome presence is all the more obtrusive since the...
514The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$1,000.00
1806/5 (O-103) XF/cleaned.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Bright, white, and overly light since two-hundred years should have toned down the surface, which leads to the easy suggestion that this popular overdate has been...

1806/5 (O-104, R.4) VF.

517The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$625.00
1806/5 (104a, R.5) F.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. A cud above "U" in UNITED helps narrow down the die-marriage quickly, along with the overdate, of course. Several pinpricks appear on the clouds off to the right,...
627The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$800.00
1806/5 (O-101, misattributed by PCGS) PCGS VF-30.
PCGS does not mention the 6/5 overdate, this being a factor in the better value as an 1806 half. Delightful ocean-blue album toning shimmers through better than half of the obverse field, with...
685The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$400.00
1806/5 (O-101) VG, and an 1806 (O-109) VG details/damaged.
New World Estate. 1806/5 actually comes fairly close to Fine sharpness and features superb, natural lilac-grey patina overall, with dove-beige on the devices. 1806 O-109 shows basically identical...
686The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$290.00
1806/5 (O-101) F.
New World Estate. Details should just barely meet requirements for Fine, given that E PLURIBUS UNUM shows nearly completely on the reverse, and Liberty's hair shows strong details along most strands....
687The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$1,650.00
1806/5 (O-102, R.3) PCGS XF-40.
Pale silver-white with whispery toast-gold accents nearer the peripheral design elements. The line at Liberty's brow that distinguishes the top of her hair is just visible enough to suggest the XF...
471The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$675.00
1806/5 (O-101, R.3) "edge lettering doubled" VF.
Doubled edge lettering was all the rage a couple of years ago, with the Presidential dollars featuring such errors selling for large premiums. It is far more difficult to locate a Draped Bust half...
527The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$750.00
1806/5 O-104b R5 VF-20.
A difficult die marriage in any grade, this is a very rare die marriage above the grade of Fine or so. The late die state O-104b is defined by a retained obverse cud that includes the last three...
528The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$390.00
1806/5 O-103 VF-25.
Soft gray patination predominates, but is occasionally intermingled with hints of cornflower-blue iridescence. The obviously strong detail is further emboldened by the darker charcoal color that has...

1806/5 O-104a, R-5. VF-25.

1370The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$2,000.00
1806/5 O-103, R-2. XF-45+.
