(About The Images)
1860-O NGC UNC details/improperly cleaned. 1860-O NGC UNC details/improperly cleaned.
Lot Title: 1860-O NGC UNC details/improperly cleaned.
Description: Evidence of cleaning includes garish hairlines that pop out at some viewing angles, but the entire coin has become toned in dusky magenta-grey, which substantially mitigates negative effects. Although quite possibly a representative of the famous bag hoard, neither side shows really any of the bagmarks almost always seen for the date. An outstanding album collection candidate. (PCGS# 006950)
Low Estimate: $700.00
High Estimate: $800.00

767The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$750.00
1860-O PCGS AU-55.
Evidently not a survivor from the bag hoard found years ago, surfaces display a light amount of circulated texture, though by no means has the flowing semi-prooflike luster diminished much through...
725The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$1,400.00
1860-O ANACS MS-61.
Undoubtedly a survivor from the famous original mint bag, the surfaces display the small but fairly prolific tiny abrasions typical of the grade. Nevertheless, swirling pinwheels of luster electrify...
794The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$1,400.00
1860-O ICG MS-62.
The reverse displays utterly blazing, brilliant white luster that circles through the fields with verve and vitality, and though the obverse also displays white luster, the action on this side is not...
795The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$1,900.00
1860-O ICG MS-63.
7070 Collection. At any time, and in any holder, this is a booming, lustrous and highly attractive crystal-clean type dollar that should readily command an MS-62 or better grade (ICG calls it MS-63)....
902The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$1,550.00
1860-O NGC MS-61.
At least one original mint bag of 1860-O silver dollars existed as late as the 1960s, but a hundred years of existence caused most of the coins to become rather widely abraded, and that is the reason...
626The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$400.00
1860-O XF, plus an 1878-S Trade dollar VF.
A pair of desirable, original and attractive type dollars span two decades. Two-thirds of the 1860-O (XF) features medium silver-grey patina, flavored by somewhat stronger charcoal tone that forms a...
627The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$775.00
1860-O PCGS AU-50.
Strong lavender-grey patina dominates both sides and suppresses any obvious luster, although reflectivity within fragments of the field clings to some devices and suggests that the coin was...
744The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$290.00
1860-O VF/rim filed.
Nearly ideal as a type dollar with mid-level details, LIBERTY is distinct as can be, and the eagle proudly trots out much of his original feather details. A couple of mild bumps on the obverse left...
745The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$390.00
1860-O XF details/impaired.
The obverse has marvelous, crusty original patina, with darker tone gravitating toward the peripheral areas, and the reverse is much the same, except that it displays fine hairlines from an unexpected...
746The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$425.00
1860-O PCGS XF-40 CAC.
Each side is thoroughly enshrouded in mottled lead-bronze toning, with the devices outlined in shades of dove-grey. This adds a touch of visual sharpness to the already bold features. There is not...
747The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$725.00
1860-O PCGS AU-50 CAC.
PCGS population statistics report 58 at AU-50, with 841 graded higher.
788The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$2,050.00
Two 1860-O Uncirculated details/cleaned.
One coin has lovely prooflike character and a superb strike, but the fields are hairlined. Although some slight golden color has developed overall, the grade must still be listed as MS-60 PL/cleaned....
789The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$2,400.00
1860-O MS-60/obverse damage/pvc.
Fields emit sparkling luster that confers really nice eye-appeal, although areas are slightly dulled by minor PVC. Professional conservation should be able to easily address this issue. The "obverse...
576The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,300.00
1860-O ANACS UNC details/corroded and 1876-S ANACS AU details/rim...
The Seated dollar is very sharp and might have been a terrific MS-61 or so if not for patches of corrosion in the lower left quadrant of the obverse. Filing of the rim is not obvious on the Trade...
842The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$290.00
1860-O VF.
There is no grade for which 1860-O can even remotely be described as a key date, making it an appealing selection for type purposes. Peripheral album iridescence graces the obverse of this handsome...
627The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$350.00
1860-O Seated Liberty dollar, AU-53, very lightly cleaned
Because this was originally a nearly prooflike coin, it is quite difficult to assess its originality. Your cataloger will err on the conservative side and suggest the coin may have been mildly...
655The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$600.00
1860-O AU-55+.
This glistening specimen retains much of its original mint luster. An array of surface marks are probably indicative of being part of the Treasury Department bag releases of the first part of the...
656The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$1,650.00
1860-O PCGS MS-62.
A magnificent effulgence radiates from the satinlike lustrous surfaces of this southern mint example. No doubt this specimen was part of the Treasury Department releases of the early 1960's because...
701The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$600.00
1860-O AU-55+.
Before this coin was circulated, I would wager that it had prooflike surfaces. It is now steel gray in color and has no distractions. There is a ton of original mint luster that still shows. This...
740The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$700.00
1860-O MS-60+.
A brilliant southern mint issue with Liberty having a frosted aspect. There is an array of ticks and scuffs in the fields, but not heavily marked as is typical for this date. The mintmark is strong,...
665The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$600.00
1860 AU-55 PL.
Portions of the surfaces show fully reflective prooflike fields, while the relief has a beautiful frosty appearance. The marks present are consistent with the assigned grade and the detail is near...
666The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$625.00
1860-O AU-58.
Very bold design motifs are observed on this New Orleans issue, which has experienced a light cleaning at one point. It is a completely untoned example, showing no dark toning blemishes or obtrusive...
