(About The Images)
1972 Doubled Die Obverse NGC MS-65 RD. 1972 Doubled Die Obverse NGC MS-65 RD.
Lot Title: 1972 Doubled Die Obverse NGC MS-65 RD.
Description: As if just plucked from a bank-wrapped roll, the surface displays nearly as-struck mint red with only subtle crimson toning nuances over some of the obverse detail. Naturally, the wide spread of the doubling catches the eye first, although a stray carbon speck on the rim at 2:00 can't evade my detective skills forever. That is why they pay me the big bucks. (PCGS# 002950)

1972 Doubled Die Obverse MS-63 RD.
Choice quality shows minimal abrading on each side and full, blazing mint red. A delicate patch of greyish toning beneath the memorial on the reverse should cause no concern.
361The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$450.00
1972 DDO (FS-102). PCGS MS-65RD.
Blazing fire-engine red luster flickers and flames through the fields, yielding to very sight hints of denim-blue patina on top of the highest relief areas. Few red gem examples of FS-102 have been...
362The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$525.00
1972 DDO PCGS MS-65 CAC.
Unlike its 1955 relative, which is almost always found with brown patina, the 1972 DDO can be located with full mint red, and this example has blazing, fiery orange emanating from nearly the entire...

1972 Doubled Die Obverse. PCGS MS-64RB.
My pappy said Son, you gonna drive me to drinkin' if you don't try buyin' that doubled die Lincoln. Glowing magenta hue beams from the surface, backed by attractive, deeper burgundy tones that elicit...
301The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$360.00
1972 Double Die Obverse. NGC MS-64 RD.
Surfaces clearly exhibit the vast majority of original mint-red, supplanted by delicate copper-orange toning in places. In addition, an intriguing patch of bright neon-purple color spills just over...
425The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$775.00
1972 Doubled Die Obverse. PCGS MS-66RD.
Nearly 500 grade MS-66, but PCGS has placed only 18 (!) in higher holders for the esteemed 1972 DDO Lincoln cent. Flawless, glowing orange luster provides the impetus for the eye-appeal given here,...
