Lot Title:

Nineteen toned Morgan dollars.
|
Description:
|
Hal Roberts Collection. The consignor avidly pursues originally toned Morgan dollars, but has elected to "thin the herd" by making these available to the speculator who understands the premium such pieces demand. All are basically common date dollars, but except as noted, these will generally fall near the Choice BU range. Space limitations prevent listing each with its associated toning pattern, but some highlights include: 1881-S (ex-Steve Ivy Rare Coins MS-67 with flip), 1883-O (lovely denim-grey), a second 1883-O (probably MS-65 with two-sided mixture of aqua-jade and magenta-gold), 1885-O (horizontal bands of peach-magenta and ocean-blue), 1887 (probably MS-65, deeply saturated ultra-violet with royal blue overtones), and 1898-O (likely end-of-roll toning). These are only perhaps the finest highlights, but by no means should the quality of the other pieces be denigrated in any way as there is some GREAT potential in this nineteen coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
