Lot Title:
1878 $5 CHCU.
Description:
Fr# 69. Choice CU despite minor tightness at the bottom margin, and a pleasing original 1878 $5. Good but not overly vibrant salmon-red ink, though the blacks are deep and pleasing.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1878 $5 PCGS CU-62PPQ.
Fr# 69. A contender for at least "choice" if not for an extremely tight right margin. Beautiful woodchopper nonetheless due to very good ink and lovely paper. |
123 | The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012 | $725.00 |
1878 $5.00. PCGS AU-58/small edge tear.
Fr# 69. Good luck finding the "edge tears", as they are trivial as can be and affect the eye-appeal not at all for this well margined woodchopper. Of course, that means the note will never make a CU... |
