Lot Title:
1802 (O-101, R.3) NGC F-15.
Description:
Very bold due to two-toned patina that promotes contrasts between pale upper relief details and lavender-grey fields. Gunmetal-grey traces a definite halo accent through the peripheral elements on both sides. Always a difficult issue in the draped-bust series, the consignor removed this example of 1802 O-101 was from an ICG slab that had a grade of VF-20. The NGC F-15 assessment seems to be pinpoint accurate by comparison. (PCGS# 039269)
