(About The Images)
1891 NGC MS-64. 1891 NGC MS-64.
Lot Title: 1891 NGC MS-64.
Description: The very center of the 1891 often shows partial detail, though this example fares better than most, showing virtually the entire definition of each individual strand over the ear. A cluster of tiny contact points on the cheek undoubtedly limit the potential for a gem grade, but sunset-gold toning drapes this side and helps disguise their presence. Tough enough to find "nice" in MS-64, an MS-65 would cost ten times as much as the present MS-64, and this is a premium quality example. (PCGS# 007204)

903The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$850.00
1891 PCGS MS-64.
Clem Stevens Collection. 1891 doesn't usually register on the conscience as a better date because it is common in circulated grades, but any competent price guide will show big upswing in value...
833The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$750.00
1891 PCGS MS-64.
Perhaps not immediately recognizable as a tougher date within the series, 1891 provides some challenge at MS-64, with this a nicer coin for the grade due to limited contact. Details were well...
834The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$1,000.00
1891 NGC MS-64.
A hearty strike gives a nice impression everywhere except just over Liberty's ear, where the most intricate strands are a trifle weak. 1891 proves to be common as can be right on past the MS-60...
1003The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$925.00
1891 NGC MS-64.
Mike Wrinkle Collection. Very desirable and difficult to locate "nice", the 1891 jumps into many thousands of dollars of cost at the next grade up, making it a premier date for the MS-64 level. This...
899The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$800.00
1891, 1899-S, and 1900-S PCGS MS-63.
At the MS-63 level, these are all less common dates in the Morgan dollar series. The 1891 and 1899-S are both blazing, pristine white coins, while the 1900-S displays consistent French-white patina...
684The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$575.00
1891 NGC MS-64.
Potent luster revolves around the fields, impeded just a little by rather dense patina that crowds around the rims with dusky gold and cinnamon-brown color. Abrasions scatter about Liberty's lower...
809The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$550.00
1891 PCGS MS-64.
Because it is such a common piece in lower grades, 1891 is hardly memorable as a key to the silver dollar series, yet above the present MS-64 grade, it takes a huge price jump into multi-thousand...
992The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$525.00
1891 NGC MS-64.
While hardly rare or even uncommon in grades below MS-60, the 1891 Morgan dollar begins to take on importance at this, the MS-64 grade level, and becomes about ten times more expensive just one point...
699The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$500.00
1891 PCGS MS-64.
Although 1891 is available in MS-63 and lower grades, It is very scarce in MS-64, and downright rare in higher grades, thus making MS-64 the "sweet spot" for many collectors. The present near-gem...
809The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$1,200.00
1891 PCGS MS-63DMPL.
Scarce Philadelphia issue at this particular grade level. PCGS population shows that only 24 are designated at this ranking from 68 submitted, with the finest in MS-64DMPL numbering 17. Frosty...
810The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$150.00
1891 NGC MS-63.
Pleasing violet toning circles the majority of the peripheries on both sides of this flashy, lustrous example of this difficult-to-find-in-high-grade date.
811The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$280.00
1891 ICG MS-64.
Virtually white example that is complemented by velvetlike surface characteristics. There are some scuffs and die polish lines on Liberty's cheek and neck, but most would agree with the assigned ICG...
828The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$390.00
1891 ICG MS-64.
This strongly struck specimen is blazing white and dripping with luster. There are some marks in the fields that are more consistent with the grade of MS-63. Everything else about this coin screams...
698The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$130.00
1891 NGC MS-63.
The reverse of this tougher date Morgan Dollar is really what makes this coin interesting, as it looks to grade MS-65. The obverse is a solid MS-63 with a few back ticks. There is a pretty big...
699The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$370.00
1891 MS-64.
A whisper of golden champagne iridescence adorns the creamy white surfaces surrounded by a richer peripheral aspect. For an issue that is typically plagued by excessive marks, this piece is an...
700The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$425.00
1891 ICG MS-64.
An accurately graded coin that is bright white and tone free. The strike is good, and the luster is rolling. There are a few small marks on the cheek that are worth mentioning, but not very...
824The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$280.00
Two 1891 Morgan Silver Dollars.
A nice pair of dollars. One grades MS-60+, and the other grades MS-63. One is bright white, the other has orange toning. Both are quite attractive.
