Lot Title:
Seven different Morgan dollars graded MS-63, four PCGS and three NGC.
Description:
B. B. Consignment. Astute buyers know that despite all the opinionated diatribe about which certification service grades what way in what series on what day, what it all boils down to is that NGC and PCGS basically grade Morgan dollars about the same way. These all command an MS-63 grade, and we list them as follows: 1881 (PCGS, off-white), 1883-O (PCGS, steam-white), 1885-O (PCGS, delicate lilac overtones), 1886 (PCGS green label, chalky white), 1887-O (NGC, a trifle scritchy-scratchy), 1890 (NGC, subtle mauve accents), and 1903-O (NGC, brilliant white). Obviously, this last coin dated 1903-O is the most coveted piece, commanding practically half the overall net value of this seven coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
