Lot Title:
1854-S PCGS AU-58.
Description:
Mintage: 14,632. San Francisco opened coinage operations in 1854 and produced gold in all denominations, though the soft strike evident for this AU-58 dollar suggests an adjustment period for the new mint. Liberty's hair shows considerable blending, the strike reminiscent of New Orleans coins. Still, both sides display considerable luster over slightly reflective and modestly hairlined fields.
