Description:

Mintage: 10,000. Very low mintage helps explain the semi-key status of 1857-S, with UNC examples very difficult to locate, while choice AU coins command a large premium over common dates. "Looks unc" commentary applies here as virtually full mint luster filters through the fields, and only very faint friction provides evidence of wear. No marks affect the obverse, while the reverse shows presence of very few tiny curving handling lines. (PCGS# 007547)
