Lot Title: "Black Beauty" silver dollar collection, 1878 - 1935, in four Library of Congress albums, incomplete.
Description: Normal-At-The-End Collection. Here is one of the most unusual dollar collections to cross Scotsman's Auctions in quite some time. The collector by intent wanted to assemble the entire collection with the darkest possible natural patina, and he called it the "Black Beauty" collection. These are generally in the VF to AU range, as UNCs would have been nearly impossible to find with such dark (original) tone, and the consignor wished to find pieces that to his eye had not been "helped along" with regard to toning. Morgan dollars and Peace dollars are included, but the set is not complete, missing approximately nineteen pieces. Key dates with no grades offered include: 1882-CC, 1885-CC, 1890-CC, 1892-CC, 1892-S, 1893-O, 1893-CC, 1894-S, 1895-O, 1896-S, 1904-S, 1921 Peace, and 1928. Personal inspection is adamantly suggested, and this is certainly an intriguing item worth exploring.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
