(About The Images)
1914 NGC AU-53. 1914 NGC AU-53.
Lot Title: 1914 NGC AU-53.
Description: Wine And Dine Collection. 1 graded AU-53, 96 higher at NGC. The entire coin exhibits a fairly thick veil of mauve-grey patina that in turn induces a slightly glossy overall appearance, accented by gentle luster in the margins. At the AU level, 1914 probably stands as a "top five" key to the series, and certainly dominates that status for any half dated 1905 or later. Like many Philadelphia issues, the details have been brought up very nicely and retain terrific sharpness despite seven points of wear. Each of the stars has been rather well brought up, and there is plenty of fine delineation in Liberty's hair. A shallow, short scratch passes diagonally over the corner of Liberty's eye, nicely covered over by the patina. (PCGS# 006530)

853The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$875.00
1914 and 1915-S, both XF.
1914 offers obvious key status, especially at XF-40 with absolutely perfect, sumptuous pewter-grey surfaces. 1915-S isn't rare at all, but this is a nice example with attractive XF-40 sharpness and...
597The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$900.00
1914 AU details/lightly cleaned.
Indeed, one can easily see the obverse as an AU-55 that has suffered just the most innocuous wipe imaginable. A number of very tiny, wispy hairlines curl across the portrait, but hardly impact the...
601The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$825.00
1914 AU/old cleaning/scratched.
Unlike the case with the other Barber series, 1914 is one of the keys to the series and very challenging to locate "nice", particularly in better grades, although it is quite difficult even in the...

1914 G-6 and 1915 VG-9
Discerning collectors of even low-grade coins will often focus on original coins grading Good to Very Good and featuring full rims in the Barber Half Dollar series. While such standards would be low...
