Lot Title:
Eleven lightly cleaned Capped Bust half-dollars.
Description:
Apple Peel Collection. Rarely does it come as a shock to learn that an early half-dollar has been cleaned at some point in its existence, and that is the case here. Mostly different dates and all different die-marriages are listed, with grades suggested to represent DETAILS ONLY: 1822 O-109 (XF-45, only the reverse appears cleaned), 1823 O-105 (VF, just lightly cleaned), 1827 O-132 (VF, dipped), 1828 O-107 (VF-35), 1828 O-109 (XF), 1828 O-116 (XF-45, surprisingly nice looking), 1831 O-102 (AU), 1831 O-109 (VF), 1834 O-104 (XF), 1836 O-109 (XF-45), and 1836 O-114 (XF). Eleven coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
