(About The Images)
1901 AU-58+. 1901 AU-58+.
Lot Title: 1901 AU-58+.
Description: Golden rose highlights are observed on this specimen that is seldom encountered in Mint State. Being most elusive in grades above AU-50, this practically Mint State example is profusely lustrous with no significant marks or blemishes. It is a vibrant example of a date that is taxing to locate in an Uncirculated condition level.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Low Estimate: $950.00

861The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$3,200.00
1901 NGC MS-61.
Impossible to locate "choice", astute collectors without unlimited budgets know to focus on 1901 dollars in the lower UNC grades, as MS-63 rings up nearly $20,000 in today's lively market. And little...
954The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$1,300.00
1901 NGC AU-58.
Familiar as a reasonably common date in circulated grades, 1901 is another famous grade-dependent rarity that suddenly becomes expensive at MS-60, and literally costs a fortune in high grade. Settle...
926The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$1,050.00
1901 (VAM-3, Top 100, Shifted Eagle DDR) PCGS XF-45.
VAM-3 is readily justifiable as a Top-100 variety, with popularity having crossed it over to inclusion in the Redbook. The doubled-die reverse is one of the best in the series, and features dramatic...
847The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$230.00
1901 NGC AU-53.
Luster is surprisingly strong for AU-53, and with accompanying brightness, this 1901 dollar might be suitable for a fiscally responsible Morgan dollar set in mostly BU condition. Details above the...
638The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$1,650.00
1901 NGC MS-61.
Considerably abraded to the point that luster on Liberty's cheek and the eagle's breast has become compromised, even though this remains technically an uncirculated coin. Surprisingly, the balance of...
749The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$390.00
1901 PCGS AU-55.
A majority of the original cartwheel mint luster is retained in the fields, and only the devices display any real signs of circulation rub, identifiable by a subtle shift to golden-tan color on the...
750The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$575.00
1901 NGC AU-58.
Essentially untoned, yielding a lustrous appearance that is decidedly close to mint state. One contact mark on Liberty's cheek, and another on the eagle's breast are worthy of note, and along with...
755The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$2,600.00
1901 Morgan dollar, NGC MS-61
Numerous tiny nicks and abrasions - too numerous to be ignored by any assigned grade - limit the technical possibilities for grade assessment, but some of the detraction is overcome by the reasonably...
867The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$675.00
1901 AU-58.
Here’s a classic example of what is meant by a “slider.” Although it faces up as a BU coin, prolonged examination of the overall appearance of this difficult issue reveals a short pinscratch below...
863The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$3,500.00
1901 Doubled Die Reverse PCGS AU-53.
This is the most dramatically doubled die in the Morgan Dollar series, and a coin seldom offered in grades above VF. Most doubled die coins are doubled in the lettering or date. This is the rare...
864The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$400.00
1901 ANACS AU-55 and 1901-S ANACS AU-55.
These two visually vibrant issues exhibit just the faintest hints of circulation on the highest motif points. They each display delicate golden nuances, with the San Francisco piece being a shade...
761The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$425.00
1901 AU-58.
A date that is seldom seen in grades higher that this one. Fairly strong details can still be observed, and the surfaces are only minimally marked.
762The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$400.00
1901 NGC AU-55.
A vibrant example of an issue that is seldom encountered in Mint State. Just the faintest amount of wear is discerned above Liberty's ear and on the Eagle's breast. The surfaces are, for the most...
763The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$675.00
1901 AU-50 Cleaned and Scratched.
This better date Morgan Dollar has AU-58+ details, but it has been lightly cleaned and shows a couple of scratches.
933The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$700.00
1901 PCGS AU-58.
This issue was struck in a relevant large number of 6,962,000, with the majority being released into circulation. Minimally marked, and with just a whisper of wear on the highest design elements, it...
865The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$2,200.00
1901 PCGS MS-61.
A date which was struck in a significantly large quantity, almost seven million, and the majority were released into circulation. Therefore, many encountered form this year are in lower grades, and...
