(About The Images)
1916-D NGC AU-58, 1923 NGC MS-64, and a 1925-S AU details/altered surfaces. 1916-D NGC AU-58, 1923 NGC MS-64, and a 1925-S AU details/altered surfaces.
Lot Title: 1916-D NGC AU-58, 1923 NGC MS-64, and a 1925-S AU details/altered surfaces.
Description: Mike Wrinkle Collection. 1916-D appears fully unc at first blush, though a small circulation mark on the braid and some trivial rub ensure an AU grade. 1923 proves to be a bright, lustrous MS-64, but the 1925-S included in this grading submission failed to grade, receiving an "altered surfaces" disclaimer from NGC. Closer inspection reveals what appears to be a simple AU-55, though the Indian's portrait does show slightly irregular fine matte texture. Picky, picky! Three coin lot.

1916-D PCGS MS-63.
Sharp almost beyond belief, with hardly any distractions except an ancient toned pinscratch that meanders over the bison's shoulder. Each side is suffused in lead-grey patina that likely saps...
269The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$190.00
1916-D PCGS MS-62.
Pewter-nickel surfaces are about as original as can ever be hoped for, displaying a little apricot-gold toning in the lower right obverse field and hints of similar iridescence on the reverse. The...

1916-D MS-63.
The bison's horn is particularly full and bold, though the balance of the reverse is curiously rather soft, and the obverse features only a decent strike. Extensive die erosion explains this...
