Lot Title:
1892 NGC MS-62.
Description:
Mike Wrinkle Collection, Mintage: 2,440. 1892 receives little notice by collectors who do not specialize in gold series, but the low mintage makes this a challenging issue, especially in a better mint-state grade. This example received NGC's MS-62 assessment immediately upon submission, and seemingly could have been a candidate for "prooflike", as both sides display noticeable reflectivity in the fields, as well as smooth, glossy luster. Lightly used dies imparted razor sharp details to both sides. (PCGS# 007844)

Exquisite sharpness includes well defined stars and nicely delineated curls over Liberty's ear. Undeniable hints of semi-prooflike eye-appeal make this a great choice for type, even though trivial... |
