Lot Title:
Five Non-Carson City GSA dollars.
Description:
The market for non-CC GSA dollars can be elusive and evade accurate assessment, as the coins so infrequently appear for sale, but astute collectors certainly recognize how much more scarce they are than many of the more expensive Carson City coins. Here is a quintet that all remain in their original packaging, which only enhances retail value. In blue envelopes, an 1899-O (AU-58) and 1921-S (XF-40) represent circulated examples from two disparate mints. Remaining dollars are in hard plastic holders with boxes included, and we list them as: 1885-O (MS-61), 1886 (P) (MS-63), and 1903-O (MS-62, and important as one of the "ultra-rare keys" that immediately descended near common status upon release of the Treasury hoard). These latter are brilliant, frosty white examples in this five coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
