(About The Images)
1942 PCI PF-67 Deep Cameo. 1942 PCI PF-67 Deep Cameo.
Lot Title: 1942 PCI PF-67 Deep Cameo.
Description: Mike Wrinkle Collection. PCI offers a "DCAM" assessment, and while that seems highly generous, we do note that the obverse appears to possess full CAMEO presentation -- not often seen on proof Mercury dimes. The reverse is fully brilliant, and PF-65 seems to be a reasonable technical grade. (PCGS# 005077)

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Low Estimate: $250.00
High Estimate: $350.00

894The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$425.00
Two 1942 NGC PF-66 CAC.
Shimmering brilliance is interrupted only by a golden fleck on Liberty's neck for one coin. The other exhibits limitless brilliance and perceptible cameo frost on the obverse, but also a single carbon...
895The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$320.00
1942 NGC PF-67.
It is hard to imagine any coin's luminosity exceeding the extremely bright silver whiteness that these surfaces exhibit. Wear shades! A thin hairline on the cheek appears to be the only grade...
608The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$390.00
Five 1942 PCGS MS-66FB and Six 1942-D PCGS MS-65FB.
A couple of the Denver coins actually have slightly prooflike character. These are overall blast-white coins, though several have splashes of toning, and one 1942 Philadelphia dime in particular...
609The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$450.00
Two 1942 PCGS MS-67FB.
The obverse of one coin displays a fine die crack from the rim through Liberty's neck, and is completely untoned. The other has a few small, greyish stains that gravitate toward the date and lower...
610The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$475.00
1942 and 1942-D, both PCGS MS-67FB.
1942 displays a fine die crack, ominously sneaking up from the obverse bottom rim, toward Liberty's throat. 1942-D is clean for the grade, and both coins are very bright in this two coin lot.
621The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$290.00
1942 NGC PF-67.
Glittering glacial-white with no toning whatsoever to detract from the fabulously brilliant surfaces. A higher grade could be considered were it not for a pair of nearly imperceptible slide marks,...
535The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$360.00
1942 Mercury dime, NGC PF-67
Pristine and essentially untoned except for a faint area of carbon on the neck. Exceedingly brilliant. From the "Zodiac" collection.
447The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$395.00
1942 PCGS PF-67.
Superb visual appeal is epitomized by this specimen's deep mirrored fields and radiant brilliance. It is not only prominently bold in definition, but appears to be pristine to the unaided eye.
448The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$1,450.00
1942 NGC PF-68.
Just an awesome, awesome coin. Pristine snow white devices float gently atop a glass smooth and crystal clear field of pure silver. This coin is so blemish free that there really is nothing to...
438The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$360.00
1942 NGC PF-67.
From the last Proof issue year from the 1936 to 1942 era, this example is nearly unrivaled in its visual appeal. Just a hint of golden iridescence is perceived on its highly reflective surfaces. ...
