(About The Images)
1904 NGC MS-64+. 1904 NGC MS-64+.
Lot Title: 1904 NGC MS-64+.
Description: The "plus" has sometimes been seen for coins that don't appear particularly strong for the base grade, but here, there do seem to be legitimate claims for MS-64. Although slightly less well struck than usual (for 1904), both sides display clean, original surface quality with no faults, aside from perhaps a couple of trivial copper spots. (PCGS# 008409)

High Estimate: $1,200.00

907The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$500.00
1904 PCGS MS-62.
Potential bidders will not be disappointed with the quality, as the surfaces offer fewer abrasions than expected of MS-62. One may assume that a minor intermittent scratch in front of Liberty's...
508The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$410.00
1904 PCGS MS-61.
A worn reverse die is the cause of slight strike doubling, as well as a nifty little die fracture between "ED". Lime-gold hues tint the peripheral areas.
863The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$600.00
1904 Liberty half-eagle AU and 1911 Indian half-eagle VF.
The 1904 half-eagle is AU with plenty of luster and evidence of an unimportant cleaning. The 1911 half-eagle grades VF or so but has apparently been cleaned. Two coin lot.
864The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$875.00
1904 Liberty half-eagle PCGS MS-62, and a 1905 Liberty quarter-eagle...
The 1905 half-eagle is lightly toned and just about perfect for MS-62, with only the associated minor ticks and abrasions, pleasing sharpness and very good luster. The 1905 quarter-eagle is...
1076The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$700.00
1904 PCGS MS-63.
Surfaces are frostier than usual for a 1904 gold coin. Scant evidence of lemon-green iridescence can just be seen on each side.
811The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$360.00
1904 NGC MS-61.
Relative lack of contact marks would typically imply a higher grade than just MS-61, but the lower assessment is justified by muted luster and stray hairlines that may be indicative of an old,...
812The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$425.00
1904 NGC MS-62.
While displaying fewer abrasions than expected of MS-62, it must be admitted that luster is strangely numb, with none of the pizzazz usually seen for 1904. Some stray hairlines might help explain...
1173The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$500.00
1904 PCGS MS-62.
OGH is an acronym commonly used to denote PCGS green label holders ("old green holder"), but so many nicer coins have been cracked out and upgraded from these holders that today, cynical collectors...
919The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$655.00
1904 PCGS MS-63.
Better than average quality is immediately apparent, though a few wispy horizontal hairlines may have resulted from album storage. Exceptionally clean and beaming with terrific mint luster.
1020The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$860.00
1904 NGC MS-63.
Surprisingly clean for the grade, with diminished mint luster on the reverse perhaps curtailing the grade. There really are no blemishes that would seem to for a grade of just MS-63.
1021The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$825.00
1904 PCGS MS-63.
Gold coins struck in 1904 are reliably crisp and lustrous, and that adequately describes the present half-eagle. The MS-63 grade is accounted for by small, scattered handling marks that gravitate to...
937The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$775.00
1904 Coronet half-eagle, NGC MS-63
Tight cartwheel luster illuminates each side of this canary-gold half-eagle. A pleasing strike completes the case for a "choice" grade.
938The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$1,500.00
1904 Coronet half-eagle, NGC MS-64
Although not designated so on the holder, this coin's lovely prooflike character manifests itself immediately upon personal inspection. Indeed, the obverse likely qualifies for a "PL" designation,...
990The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$725.00
1904 NGC MS-63.
A splendid yellow-gold aspect complement this specimen's impressive glowing surfaces. The light scuffs and trivial ticks detected are typical for this grade level. The observed detailing is quite...
382The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$280.00
1904 PCGS MS-62.
This specimen exhibits an elegant orange-gold bearing. A scant number of ticks and scuffs are detected with a glass.
474The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$1,450.00
1904 PCGS MS-64.
A splendid issue displaying a warm, lustrous yellow-gold glow on velvetlike surfaces. A few trivial contact ticks are evident on this well-struck specimen.
475The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$2,900.00
1904 PCGS MS-65.
A glowing radiance emanates from this specimen's vibrant, delicate surfaces. A scant number of random ticks on a superbly crisp strike.
