(About The Images)
1875-CC VF. 1875-CC VF.
Lot Title: 1875-CC VF.
Description: Obviously removed from album placement, the rims show evidence of steel-blue toning that pushes cobalt hue toward the stars. A couple of ancient scratches near the Liberty cap offer no distraction, being toned the same deep graphite-grey as the rest of the coin. Slightly better struck than average for 1875-CC. (PCGS# 005297)

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

439The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$450.00
1875-CC VF.
Campania Estate. LIBERTY is just beginning to emerge from the shield details, but that is not considered the primary grading factor for 20-cent pieces, which feature a raised LIBERTY rather than the...
744The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$1,250.00
1875-CC PCGS AU-50.
Perfectly graded, the obverse shows seven letters on the shield, though BER is, as always, a trifle ill defined. Gallant army-green tone has settled into much of the obverse fields and encroaches...
515The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$1,150.00
1875-CC NGC UNC details/improperly cleaned.
Dull overall, the surfaces show even aluminum-grey patina with a faint hint of yellow outside the obverse stars. Whatever cleaning process was executed, it was not done to excess, as neither side...
516The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$320.00
1875-CC PCGS F-15.
Enticing vintage quality meets the eye immediately, as this Carson City product shows attractive rose-grey devices atop darker graphite fields. LIBERTY is absent from the shield, which is acceptable...
518The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$525.00
1875-CC PCGS VF-25.
At some advantageous viewing angles, ghostly remnants of LIBERTY may still be seen on the shield, though a blunt view will suggest almost complete smoothness. This is a marvelous, original coin from...
519The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$1,000.00
1875-CC PCGS XF-45.
Martin's Little Consignment. Compare this Carson City to a Philadelphia from the same consignor and strongly consider buying both, as they match up so well. LIBERTY stands out about as well as...
490The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$850.00
1875-CC PCGS XF-40.
Fairly well detailed everywhere except at the common trouble spots for 1875-CC: at LIBERTY, and across the top of the eagle's left (observed) wing. Grey toning layers atop the central devices, ceding...
491The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$1,700.00
1875-CC NGC MS-61.
Each side is completely untoned, which tends to emphasize frosty texture on the devices and fragile luster in the fields. LIBERTY on the shield looks a little weak as always for 1875-CC, while the...
877The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$875.00
1875-CC PCGS XF-40.
LIBERTY isn't necessarily sharp, but examination of the shield area does suggest that each letter is at least partially accounted for. The surfaces are replete with coal-grey patina that is a shade...
379The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$280.00
1875-CC Good.
Texture of the surfaces is immaculate for the low G-4 grade, featuring the kind of ideal smoothness that can only result from honest circulation. The shield is just partially outlined and the reverse...
360The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$725.00
1875-CC VF.
Price guides continue to vastly underrate popularity and value of the 1875-CC twenty-cent coin, which has the allure of both an oddball type and the magical Carson City mintmark. This is a...
297The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$575.00
1875-CC NGC VF-25.
Battleship-grey, with a surprising level of cartwheel luster for just the VF-25 grade level. Perhaps the equivalent of two letters shows on the shield, but striking weakness in that area for Carson...
298The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$1,100.00
1875-CC PCI XF-40.
This very nice quality 1875-CC twenty-cent coin is encapsulated in a green-labeled PCI holders with a fourteen digit serial number, and without question, the assigned XF-40 grade is conservative. ...
438The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$310.00
1875-CC ANACS GD-6.
Though no letters of LIBERTY are displayed on the shield, this 1875-CC twenty cent coin has claims to a fully "very good" grade, though ANACS settled on G-6. A strictly original example with no...
439The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$550.00
1875-CC F
The equivalent of four out of seven letters on "LIBERTY" are visible on the shield, and the highly attractive surface quality confirms a grade of F-12. At normal viewing distances, the "Liberty"...
440The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$675.00
1875-CC VF-20
Although the "circulation cameo" effect is evident with light silver details draped against darker fields, some curious lead-grey staining of the surfaces may be indicative of storage in a wet...
539The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$835.00
1875-CC Twenty Cent EF-45
Contrary to many coins similarly graded in the "extremely fine" range, this example displays a strong and practically complete LIBERTY on the shield. Only the bottom of "BE" remains a bit indistinct;...
452The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$825.00
1875-CC XF-45.
Natural golden tones enhance the original surfaces of this lightly circulated Carson City issue. It is still lustrous amongst its design motifs and inscriptions. A planchet flaw is perceived beneath...
453The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$1,200.00
1875-CC AU-50.
Ivory luster illuminates this entire Carson City product in lovely fashion. Despite a high level of preservation, ample dirt and grunge have managed to work their way within the finer details,...
501The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$370.00
1875-CC F-15.
A popular denomination from a popular western mint. Of the three mints that produced this particular short-lived coin, this piece exemplifies the only attainable Carson City date. The pleasing...
451The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$475.00
1875-CC XF-45.
Original mint luster can be observed around the protected areas of both the obverse and reverse. The coin is bright white and free of major distractions. It has an average strike for the grade.
