(About The Images)
1870 PCGS PF-45. 1870 PCGS PF-45.
Lot Title: 1870 PCGS PF-45.
Description: Martin's Little Consignment. The consignor had no idea this was a proof when he bought it, but PCGS has designated it as such, and this may help explain why the coin has worn so beautifully. The ivory-grey details stand out in prominent relief, both technically and visually, from deep ebony-grey fields, providing just about the maximum possible contrast for a circulated-cameo coin. A tick on Liberty's knee seems to be the only notable contact mark. (PCGS# 007018)
Low Estimate: $850.00
High Estimate: $1,000.00

643The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$550.00
1870 AU details/cleaned/hairlines.
What seems at first to be an impressive prooflike appearance disappoints just a little upon further inspection. Short, furry hairlines in the fields indicate a light cleaning that probably...
577The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$340.00
1870 VF.
Wonderfully vintage in appearance, the charcoal-tan surfaces offer consistent patina and could not be improved upon. LIBERTY is a little soft at "BE", which is fully in keeping with a VF-35 grade, and...
578The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,050.00
1870 PCGS PF-55.
That mid- to late-nineteenth century proof coins occasionally circulated may not be much of a surprise, especially in the case of a Seated dollar, since a dollar had considerable purchasing power in...
512The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$1,950.00
1870 PF-63.
Wonderfully reflective fields are completely immersed in royal-burgundy tone, except near the bottom of the date, where aqua-blue concentrates near the rim. A compellingly attractive proof, the...
721The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$400.00
1870 XF.
Details and luster quality would probably be sufficient to warrant a little higher grade, but Liberty's portrait is a little noisy from bagmarks, and a few unsightly stains are visible, particularly...
704The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$1,400.00
1870 PF-62.
Milky white patina covers 100% of this neat Seated Dollar. There are some ticks in the fields, but they are commensurate for the grade of MS-62. The devices are struck as you would expect they would...
