Lot Title:
1804 S-266c XF-40.
Description:
This is a wonderful rare cent. The surfaces are the right color brown, a nice light tan brown that one sees very rarely on old copper coinage. This piece has the detail of an XF minimum, however it appears long ago some one took a pin to the reverse and put about 10 small, but noticeable, scratches in the center off the wreath. It is from late in the dies' life and shows the two large cuds that makes this date stand out. This cent, though a little flawed, is still in the top 10% to 20% of 1804 cents that exist. Very rare and highly desirable as such.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
