Lot Title:
1843 (N-17, R.5) Mature Head, Large Letters, PCGS XF-45.
Description:
N-17, R.5. A low condition census mandates an EAC estimate, offered here as perhaps VF-20, which could put this coin at the bottom of a census. Sharpness appears identical to the Jules Reiver coin (XF), but that was probably a slightly more original piece, this one showing honey-gold iridescence as if from a cleaning in the distant past. Through the slab, the lower right portion of the rim appears to show contact, but only random, minor circulation marks appear anywhere else in the fields of each side. (PCGS# 001850)
