Lot Title:
Wayte Raymond album of Mint Sets.
Description:
The consignor believes the coins were transferred from original sets by a grandparent, but of course, it is never possible to state that with certainty. That being said, the story makes sense, as these are exceptionally original coins, and possess very much the appearance of true mint set pieces. OF course, they have remained in this "National Coin Album" (manufactured by Wayte Raymond Inc.) for several decades, and it's quite possible the album induced some of the toning. At any rate, the sets include coins for 1949, 1950, and 1952, but a few are missing: 1949-S quarter, 1950-S half and 1950-S nickel. No coins from 1951 are included.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
