(About The Images)
1818 PCGS XF-40. 1818 PCGS XF-40.
Lot Title: 1818 PCGS XF-40.
Description: B-4. Many astute collectors understandably gravitate to early silver offering vintage "circulation cameo" effect, and that is precisely the case here, at least on the obverse. Graphite-grey patina dominates the fields and offers handsome contrast with dove-grey details. The reverse shows a slightly more mottled approach, with some lighter color filtering into the fields, but regardless, the overall presentation can hardly be beat for the XF level. (PCGS# 005322)
Low Estimate: $1,200.00
High Estimate: $1,500.00

445The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$310.00
1818 VF/cleaned.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Somewhat hairlined, the salmon-grey surface has started to recover some peripheral toning but the hairlines are unfortunately prevalent on both sides. Persistent...
446The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$3,800.00
1818 NGC MS-62.
The large-planchet capped-bust quarter represents one of the most difficult type coins to find in any competently assigned UNC grade, and NGC has assessed an MS-62 grade in this case. Needless to...
632The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$1,125.00
1818 (B-2) NGC XF-40.
Rather "crusty" with thick, rich patina and a pleasing, dark original appearance, the peripheral devices join with even darker accents to frame both sides. A deft touch of graphite-grey patina...
476The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$825.00
1818 AU/whizzed.
Wildly blazing luster is most improbable for an early 19th century coin with about ten points of wear, so closer scrutiny of this outlandish bust quarter is warranted. It ought not take too long to...
373The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$875.00
1818 "B-8" XF.
The high-contrast tri-tone appearance derives from beige-tan details that diverge sharply from very dark patina embedded within detail recesses, offset with medium-grey patina in the fields. The...
374The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$875.00
1818 (B-8) AU/whizzed..
Crazily shimmering luster seems out of place on a bust quarter-dollar with only AU-50 details, and it doesn't take long to realize that this is a whizzed coin that has also been retoned. It's too...
306The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$1,350.00
1818 AU.
Perhaps somewhat overly bright or "brilliantish" but part of this visual impression arises from an excess of tiny scrapes and contusions that have penetrated the silver-creme patina and produced...
629The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$450.00
1818 (B-6, R-4) PCGS F-12.
Modest as a grades of "fine" can seem to some collectors with deep pockets, it is often the perfect grade at which a large planchet bust becomes highly collectable, and PCGS has nailed the grade...
630The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$650.00
1818 (B-10, R-3) PCGS VF-20.
Exquisite patina drapes this 1818 B-10 with deeply original quality that should be coveted by every collector. Full, bold dentilation surrounds both sides and provides the framework for excellent eye...
458The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$425.00
1818 VF-20 and 1835 VF-30.
Both coins are problem-free VFs and have attractive dark russet tones.
