918The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$332.00
1892-S PCGS XF-45.
Checkered Collection. The consignor states that this was previously in a PCGS AU-50 holder which he submitted for upgrade, resulting instead in a downgrade to XF-45! Such is the consistency of...
919The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$1,350.00
1892-S NGC AU-53.
Checkered Collection. Except for 1893-S, 1892-S infamously shows the largest jump in value between AU and MS-60, where it becomes one of the primary keys to the series. Typical prices guides will...
840The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$675.00
1892-S PCGS XF-45, and an 1896-S PCGS XF-40.
Smithereen's Collection. Infamous as a grade rarity, value of 1892-S blasts off from grade to grade above XF, making this lustrous tin-grey example an attractive budget-friendly acquisition. 1896-S...
923The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$2,900.00
1892-S NGC AU-55, plus three additional Morgan dollars.
Hands-down, 1892-S (NGC AU-55) comprises the bulk of the value for this grouping, and it shows ideal pewter-grey patina over steadily revolving luster and fairly sharp overall details. Additional...
924The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$3,200.00
1892-S NGC AU-55.
It takes forty-thousand dollars(!) to purchase even the most basic uncirculated 1892-S, so an AU-55 example becomes a very attractive option to all but the most well-heeled of collectors. The reverse...
1008The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$450.00
1892-S and 1895-O, both ANACS VF-35.
Details prove to be very comparable, though the 1895-O actually shows a trivial advantage in sharpness through the hair curls. Indeed, it practically looks XF. Two coin lot.
794The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$475.00
1892-S PCGS VF-35, and an 1895-O NGC VF-30 CAC.
Tougher dates within the Morgan dollar series match up exceptionally well here, partly because they are similarly graded, but more importantly because they feature virtually identical, superb original...
796The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$310.00
1892-S PCGS XF-45.
Substantial luster affirms the "choice" level for XF, with some silvery sparkle still seen between peripheral lettering. Ideal pewter-grey commands the eye-appeal on both sides.
797The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$340.00
1892-S NGC XF-45.
An enormous jump in price at AU-50 makes a carefully graded XF-45 seem like a bargain. This semi-key dollar has seen only modest wear and retains much cartwheel effect even in the obverse fields. ...
902The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$550.00
1892-S PCGS XF-45.
Quite a bit of luster embraces the edges of the obverse, and nearly half the reverse still boasts cartwheel effect. Light rub can be seen on both sides, and one could anticipate consideration for an...
816The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$425.00
1892-S PCGS XF-45.
For a collector who pursues Morgan dollars in the (usually) eminently affordable lightly circulated grades, here is an ideal semi-key representative that perfectly adheres to common sense standards...
635The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$1,450.00
1892-S NGC AU-50.
AU-50 provides the perfect assessment of condition for this iron-grey key, the second most difficult San Francisco dollar in the series. Despite ten points of wear, either side is pleasantly free of...
788The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$625.00
1892-S PCGS XF-45.
1892-S is infamous for the enormous jump in value between XF-40 and AU-50, and a coin graded XF-45 provides considerable margin for variance. Thus, it is important for the potential bidder to...
708The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$525.00
1892-S PCGS XF-45.
Sooty patina has settled across the surfaces and tends to gather in the protected areas around peripheral lettering, as well as the reverse devices. Although this effect has somewhat muted any...
709The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$400.00
1892-S ANACS XF-45.
Perfectly original quality could hardly be improved upon for a Morgan dollar of this grade. The surfaces are uncommonly smooth and evenly patinated, with some trivial darker grey staining between the...
710The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$1,650.00
1892-S NGC AU-53.
Pewter-grey patina layers nicely over softly lustrous fields, and conveys the utmost level of original quality. Amazingly clean for just an AU, as the lovely patina benefits the coin by suppressing...
711The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$4,500.00
1892-S PCGS AU-55.
Sumptuous, creamy smooth mint luster displays little loss of flowline presence from only brief circulation. Aluminum surfaces are but lightly patinated. A clean and clear appearance augments an...
712The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$3,600.00
1892-S PCGS AU-55.
Utmost original patina seeps over just lightly worn highpoint details, with the balance of the surfaces retaining much of their mint brilliance. This is for sure a purely original and unmolested coin....
717The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$340.00
1892-S Morgan dollar, ANACS XF-45
This is just a perfect, ultra-original circulated coin with only faint glimmers of mint luster, but tons of appeal. The strike and remaining detail are exceptional.
718The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$600.00
1892-S Morgan dollar AU-53
The negative effects of a moderately harsh mechanical cleaning have been somewhat attenuated by subsequent application of artificial toning. A cloudy veneer of chemical film is layered across most...
822The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$220.00
1892-S XF-40.
This lot presents an attainable scarce date. It is both lightly toned and displays less contact marks than the normally encountered circulated specimen at this level.
823The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$370.00
1892-S XF-45.
Slightly hazy patination does not overly diminish the obvious mint luster flickering over both sides of this pewter grey coin. Hints of golden rim toning appear on the reverse, but overall, this...
824The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$400.00
1892-S ICG XF-45.
This is an eye-appealing specimen for a date that is virtually unobtainable in Mint State. Its surfaces still retain a somewhat satiny aspect and have acquired a handsome, delicate silver hue. ...
710The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$250.00
1892-S XF-45.
A solid XF example of a tougher date Morgan. The breast feathers are a little flat on the reverse.
888The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$1,000.00
1892-S AU-50++.
Usually not found in grades above Extremely Fine, and a Mint State Rarity, this particular specimen, although it has received a light cleaning, is somewhat prooflike. For descriptive accuracy, the...
889The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$3,300.00
1892-S PCGS AU-55.
Somewhat prooflike, this virtually untoned specimen presents an important acquisition opportunity. Surface contact marks are chiefly seen on the obverse, but intermix with the design elements. Still...
890The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$3,150.00
1892-S PCI AU-58 PQ.
Here we have a tougher date dollar that is a solid AU-58. It is both pleasing to the eye and well deserving of the assigned grade. It is lead gray with tones of russet, light rose, and turquoise. ...
