(About The Images)
1863 NGC MS-65. 1863 NGC MS-65.
Lot Title: 1863 NGC MS-65.
Description: A very interesting Civil War cent, each side offers some interesting characteristics for the die specialist. On the obverse, "F" is almost entirely missing from "OF" (filled die?), and some intriguing linear striations in the obverse die caused the lines that underscore ERICA toward the right. Turning to the reverse, both arms of the wreath display strong doubling above the midway point, but one might easily guess that this is due to strike doubling. And of course, on top of that, the quality is all there for the NGC MS-65 grade, with spiraling luster and virtually perfect copper-beige color over abrasion-free surfaces. (PCGS# 002067)
