(About The Images)
1873 and 1908, PCGS PF-64RB (green label) CAC. 1873 and 1908, PCGS PF-64RB (green label) CAC.
Lot Title: 1873 and 1908, PCGS PF-64RB (green label) CAC.
Description: Encapsulation in green-label PCGS holders affirms that the surface color has remained stable for this pair of Indian head cents for many years, and they are identically certified as grading PF-64 RB. 1873 retains better than half of its precious, original mint-red, with delicate wood grain effect noticeable across the portrait and most of the reverse. This coin is immensely well struck with zero noticeable flaws, although a tiny strikethrough loops over "E" in STATES. The obverse of the 1908 is perhaps only a quarter mint red, while the reverse features blazing copper-gold brilliance over about three-quarters of the surface, embraced from below by a gorgeous crescent of deep burgundy-gold patina. Here again, the strike is just about flawless, with the grade likely determined by a few hairlines in the obverse lower left field, located only by persistent examination. Two coin lot from the Kibitz Collection.

254The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$525.00
1873 NGC MS-64 RB CAC.
Probably 80% red overall, no fault can be found with the lovely mint appearance as it mingles light ash-brown patina with glowing ember-orange color. There just is not a single contact mark to be...
462The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$425.00
1873 "open 3" PCGS MS-64RB.
That PCGS can sometimes grade small-cents very conservatively is not in question, and this seems to be a textbook case of an undergraded coin. By every measure, including delightful mint luster,...
463The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$750.00
1873 "Closed 3" and 1883 PF-65RB.
Identically graded PF-65 RB, both the Indian cents in this lot are spectacular gems. The 1873 "closed 3" is graded by PCGS and has clearer surface quality, but the 1883 graded by NGC has nicer color...
219The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$550.00
1873 'Open 3" and 1875 Indian Head cents, PCGS MS-64 RB.
Virtually a fully brown reverse is paired with a 50% red obverse for the 1873, and it delivers about 90% of the diamond detail on the ribbon. At hand's length, the obverse appears to be an easy "gem",...
