Lot Title: Complete Barber half-dollar collection in two Library of Coins albums.
Description: Upgraded coins will show a partial or full LIBERTY in many slots, with most coins also having full rim details, although a few fall shy of true old-fashioned "G-4" standards. Obviously, the consignor made strong efforts to keep coins with at least some details. Every single coin has a bold obverse rim, and 1892-O and 1894 are the only two that have merged rim details of significance on the reverse. Needless to say, it's a nice set! The best coins include 1892-O (G/AG+), 1892-S (G), 1893-S (strong G), 1896-S (VG), 1897-O (G+ but an old cleaning has retoned in the album), 1897-S (VG but seems to have been wiped and retoned in the album), 1901-S (F but a little dark and a small rim bump), 1913 (strong G but three tiny rim bumps on the reverse), 1914 (strong G but with a couple of slight rim bumps and possibly an old cleaning that has retoned really nicely), and 1915 (strong G). Given that these are well circulated coins in the Good to VG grade range, it's quite interesting that several have nice, colorful album tone, including 1892-O, 1892-S, 1893-O, 1893-S, 1894-S1901-O (although slightly cleaned), 1907, 1907-D, 1909-O, 1913-D (but cleaned first), 1914 and 1915-S. Aside from really trivial signs of cleaning on about a handful of coins, all are basically nice original pieces.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
