Lot Title:
1875 $1.00. New Bedford, MA Charter# 261 Scallops. VF.
Description:
The First National Bank of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Terrific contrast and great paper gives this first charter note all the appearance of XF at first glance, augmented by strong ink color. The top margin is extremely tight and very slightly slivered off at the top left, while the right side shows enough light staining to place the note into a better VF grade. It's enough to make one wonder why round pizza comes in a square box.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
