Description:
|
Caked across each side of this utterly delightful, completely desirable GEM is layer upon layer of thick, rich powdery mint-set style patina, imbued with crusty shades of deep tobacco-gold embedded into the crevices of the design elements. This is the ultimate in crusty, original silver, with not even the most remote chance that the coin has ever been messed with in any way. Rather, it has taken decades for the layers of history to accumulate, slowly and delectably, with the passage of years allowed to work their magic in nature's own sweet time. What places a coin like this at the pinnacle of eye-appeal is the fact that despite the deep piles of patina, one can still very easily discern extremely potent energetic luster throbbing beneath the layers, bursting with vibrancy yet working in synergy with the toning. Surfaces exhibit lovely platinum-grey countenance as the centerpiece of the visual impact, forming the third leg of the triangle of eye-appeal. The Scotsman Cataloger's Choice award favors coins of truly original character, and that is without question the driving factor here. (PCGS# 004870)
