Lot Title:

Complete collection of Mercury dimes in a Whitman 9413 album (1916-D PCGS Genuine, 1942/1 PCGS XF-45)
|
Description:
|
1916-D has details in the Fine grade range, but examination of the surface reveals extensive microporosity, with the coin severely cleaned in an effort toward alleviating the issue. The PCGS XF-45 grade couldn't be more apt for the 1942/1. 1916 is UNC, 1921 and 1921-D might both pass for a full Good grade, given the usual weaker peripheral details, and a handful of other later date coins might also be fully UNC under close inspection. Some nicer earlier pieces are mintmarked and possess strong, vintage quality surfaces.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
