Lot Title:
1853 900 U.S. ASSAY. PCGS VF-30.
Description:
While not familiar to many collectors, 2.5 million 20-dollar gold coins were struck by the San Francisco Assay Office in 1853, making them available to collectors today in reasonable grades at a reasonable cost. Complexity of the design is limited even for examples in mint-state, with a nicely circulated example like this displaying only the bold features. Shield lines are worn away, but more than half the feathers in the wings are still visible. Except for a single linear mark at the center of the denomination side, there are no distractions.
