Lot Title:
Two Coronet Head Large Cents.
Description:
This lot consists of a tantalizing pair from the Matron Head varieties listed under this major cent type. The first example is an 1836 N-6, R-2, AU-58. The second specimen an 1839 Booby Head, N-7, R-2, AU-55. The 1836 is a middle to late die state specimen with a diagnostic obverse cud between the 7th and 8th stars, and three radial die breaks on the left-hand side of the reverse. Rim crimps are detected on the obverse at 9:00 and the corresponding area on the reverse. Both have glossy surfaces with an enhancing mahogany aspect.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
