(About The Images)
1853 NGC MS-65 RD. 1853 NGC MS-65 RD.
Lot Title: 1853 NGC MS-65 RD.
Description: With blazing luster over naked-copper surfaces, there is no shortage of eye-appeal, that's for sure. Probably 95% of the surface is mint-red, with a widespread dash of tiny greyish flecks comprising the 5% brown patina. A powerful strike brought up exquisite detail, including central definition of all stars save one (the tenth). A magnificent, sparkling jewel! (PCGS# 001903)

292The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$1,150.00
1853 PCGS MS-65RB CAC.
50% red on the obverse and 60% red on the reverse means the PCGS "RB" designation could not be more apt, especially given the pleasing brick color that describes the mint areas. The quality has "gem"...
453The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$260.00
1853 (N-22, R.2+) NGC MS-63 BN.
Mike Wrinkle Collection. NGC does not show the N-22 attribution on the slab. Olive-brown patina drapes virtually the entire coin, with a tentative vestige of mint red peeking through here and there....
216The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$500.00
1853 NGC MS-64 BN.
The "BN" designation seems hopelessly conservative given the amount of blazing grapefruit-red color seen across both sides, though proportion may technically be the limiting factor. The obverse...
282The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$475.00
Two 1853 large cents and two half-cents.
Sharp details and good surfaces are two of the most positive attributes for this quartet of copper coins that together only add up to three cents face value. An 1809 half-cent grades XF-40 despite...
179The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$1,550.00
1853 PCGS MS-64RD.
As a likely hoard coin, N-10 is one of the most common Newcomb die-marriages available in mint state, and this is borne out by two uncirculated examples in today's sale. The variety is easily...
180The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$725.00
1853 PCGS MS-65BN.
Flickers of smoldering red color illuminate the stars and the edge of the devices, but 95% of the surfaces are brown, as indicated in the grade. This common N-10 example is free from carbon spots and...
181The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$1,050.00
1853 NGC MS-65 RB.
This is a knockout hands-down gem type large-cent by any grading standard. Each side displays a minimum of 80% of the vintage mint-red color, accented handsomely with faded leather-brown patina...
182The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$230.00
1853 PCGS MS-63BN.
An attractive, frosty brown coin with pleasing, original surfaces. Verdigris and faint carbon appear on either side, but have no impact on the luster.
183The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$650.00
1853 (N-3) NGC MS-65 BN.
Brown copper isn't always exciting to many collectors, yet this 1853 N-3 certainly provides more pizzazz and attractive features than expected of such a copper piece. This coin displays fantastic and...
124The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$400.00
1853 NGC MS-64 BN.
Remarkable appearance is granted by the deeply imbued olive-bronze tone that pervades across each side. "3" in the date is dramatically recut.
254The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$400.00
Six Braided Hair Cents.
1853 misaligned die VF-30, 1853 XF+, 1854 AU, 1855 slanted five XF, 1855 knob on ear XF, and 1857 large date XF. This group of higher grade circulated cents will sure make you smile.
255The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$400.00
1853 Large Cent MS-63 BN and an 1833 Half Cent MS-62 BN.
Though not matched at all for color, both of these early coppers are uncirculated coins, and each is very well struck. The 1833 half-cent grades MS-62 and has dark walnut brown color overall. ...
233The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$250.00
1853 PCGS MS-63 BN.
This specimen's surfaces are lavishly bedecked in an exquisite brown hue. Subtle blue tinges are interspersed and add to its handsome aspect. Some speckles are noted when viewing this bold strike...
276The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$270.00
1853 MS-64 RB.
Astoundingly rich reddish-orange and brown hues blend to produce a splendid aspect. A light array of speckles are detected if viewing with a glass. All design elements are prominent and crisp.
