(About The Images)
1883 NGC PF-63 CAMEO. 1883 NGC PF-63 CAMEO.
Lot Title: 1883 NGC PF-63 CAMEO.
Description: Stunning ice-white surfaces crystallize the eye-appeal with ivory-frosted devices drifting across gleaming reflective fields. The grade would be much higher were it not for an isolated spot of corrosion at 10:00 of the obverse, although a fingerprint is also noted on the reverse. Exquisitely detailed for a shield nickel. (PCGS# 083838)
Low Estimate: $300.00
High Estimate: $400.00

246The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$650.00
1883 NGC PF-66.
JRC Set. Brilliant to a marvelous degree, a faint touch of almond-gold toning prevents the coin from appearing overly bright while still permitting ready appreciation of modest cameo frost. It is...
378The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$290.00
1883 PCGS MS-64.
Exceptional for MS-64, the obverse features especially strong apparent quality and seemingly calls for upgrade consideration. Closer inspection finds a couple of small contact marks cleverly hidden...
908The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$500.00
1883 PCGS PF-65CAM.
Late state dies ensure a minimum of proof contrast, though the PCGS designation acknowledges very nice matte frost on the lettering and devices. There is much swirling luster in the fields,...
909The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$725.00
1883 NGC PF-66.
An in-your-face very-gem nickel, the quality is concisely summed up within NGC's PF-66 grade, with no distracting embellishment necessary. Fluid cameo effect is minimal on either side, but who cares...
503The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$600.00
1883 NGC PF-66.
Beautifully struck in proof format, the devices are lightly frosted just enough to give a tasteful impression of fragile cameo contrast. Although the overall appearance is that of pristine...
292The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$525.00
1883 PCGS PF-64.
Memorable proof contrast is quite noticeable on the obverse, though the reverse offers little similar contrast by comparison. Mindful examination of the obverse side reveals a hint of purplish...
367The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$340.00
1883 PCGS PF-64 (rattler).
The obverse readily stands up to inspection and exceeds assumptions for the PF-64 grade level, indicated on the PCGS rattler slab. A couple of sizable abrasions left of the denomination on the...
368The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$575.00
1883 PCGS PF-65.
By the end of the run for shield nickels, Philadelphia had gotten a good handle on how to produce coins on the hard metal in both proof and business-strike formats. Thus, details are nice and sharp...
369The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$1,300.00
1883 NGC PF-67.
Endless and amazing eye-appeal is steadily generated by this pristine and utterly immaculate proof shield nickel, the final issue in the series. Fields shimmer with subtle reflectivity while the...
248The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$370.00
1883 NGC MS-64.
Since 1883 saw three different types of nickel struck in one year, and all of them are readily available, it is a popular date for type selection in the shield nickel series. For that matter, some...
249The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$525.00
1883 PCGS MS-65.
Unmistakable gem quality luster flickers around the obverse fields, supplemented with delicate lilac-gold iridescence. Distress of the obverse die is visible in the die cracks near the date and at...
250The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$575.00
1883 PCGS PF-65.
Chrome-silver surfaces provide a distinctly cameo appearance that is not noted on the PCGS insert, and even from a technical standpoint, this seems to be a conservatively graded proof. Carbon spots...
251The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$625.00
1883 PCGS PF-66.
It is instantly obvious even from arm's length that this is a premium quality proof. Exceptional sharpness is well complemented by apparent light cameo contrast when the coin is rotated beneath a...
542The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$925.00
1883/2 (FS-013.1) XF.
Late die state examples of FS-013.1 tend to be plagued by extensive die cracks, including a partial cud through GOD, which this coin lacks. That, in combination with the strength of the overdate...
349The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$1,350.00
1883/2 "FS-013.2" AU.
There are five die marriages that produced the true 1883/2 Shield nickel overdate, and FS-013.2 is easily one of the best. Not only is the under-digit "2" conspicuous with a loupe, but the cud that...
485The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$1,850.00
1883/2 (FS-013) Shield nickel, MS-60, surface residue
Five obverse dies for the 1882 shield nickel were overdated to reflect the current year in 1883, but of those five, FS-013 is THE premiere obverse die for the collector, as it displays the strongest...
928The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$850.00
1883 NGC PF-66.
This specimen's glistening, delicate surfaces are embellished with pleasing rose highlights. Almost completely void of microscopic toning specks, and the design elements are very strong and...
448The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$360.00
1883 SEGS MS-65.
This is a bright white nickel with awesome detail. There are some cool die cracks on the obverse that give this coin a unique look. There is not one hint of toning.
