Description:

Surfaces are textured to an almost outrageous level of satin smoothness, shimmering with intense cottony whiteness that still manages to blaze with scintillating luster. Wow, how did all those superlatives fit onto the surface of just one coin? Bringing a loupe to bear, one finds a fascinating phenomenon, whereby Liberty's portrait is outlined by strings of progressively darker tobacco color. The effect is difficult to describe and warrants closer examination by prospective bidders. This quarter is detailed with amazing sharpness that seems nearly prooflike in definition, although of course this is a circulation strike, replete with several minor die cracks on each side. A decidedly amazing coin! (PCGS# 005458)
