Lot Title:
1849-C PCGS Genuine (XF details/cleaned/code 92).
Description:
Details obviously meet or exceed reasonable standards for XF, since the stars are all well detailed, and Liberty's hair shows strong definition. Indeed, overall sharpness exceeds expectations for Charlotte gold. The PCGS code-92 indicates "cleaning", but any such offense is most definitely of minimal concern, as the surface still retains considerable original appeal, including nice golden-rouge accents outlining the devices. Indeed, the PCGS code could easily be in error, as the more important detriment consists of a handful of short but sharp scratches on the obverse, including a moderate scratch on Liberty's face. Ignore the code, and instead formulate bids on that basis. (PCGS# 008241)
