(About The Images)
1901-S PCGS MS-64. 1901-S PCGS MS-64.
Lot Title: 1901-S PCGS MS-64.
Description: 1901-S does not seem to get its just due as a semi-key to the series, as they just don't show up "nice" often enough. Here is a terrific, satin textured cotton-white example, replete with billowing bands of luster and a decent strike. Minor softness appears over Liberty's ear, but the eagle's breast feathers are relatively sharp. There are no problems or distractions at all to report, aside from the tiny contact marks expected of MS-64. (PCGS# 007276)
Low Estimate: $700.00
High Estimate: $850.00

951The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$825.00
1901-S PCGS MS-64.
Checkered Collection. A familiar key date across all silver series, the 1901-S Morgan dollar quadruples in value at the gem grade, marking MS-64 as a very attractive collectable level. All that...
862The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$1,100.00
1901-S NGC MS-64.
Minimal magenta-tan splashes the upper left of the obverse, but the appearance is otherwise that of a shimmering, gleaming brilliant white dollar. Bouncy luster only benefits the eye-appeal, though...
639The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$425.00
1901-S NGC MS-62.
Delicate gold tone kisses the rims, but avoids the essentially brilliant surfaces. Incompletely struck, as some planchet striations are still visible on Liberty's cheek, and each side is modestly...
640The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$825.00
1901-S PCGS MS-64.
Nearer than not to a full "gem" grade, this 1901-S exudes marvelous cottony-soft white luster that is a full shade brighter than usual, as if powered by some wondrous internal light source. Although...
665The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$400.00
1901-S NGC MS-62.
Merely the thinnest sliver of patina touches the rims all the way around each side of this better Morgan dollar, though each side generally faces up as untoned silver. As expected of the NGC grade,...
666The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$2,500.00
1901-S NGC MS-65.
Vastly appealing beige-grey patina dominates the both sides, ceding to a shimmering band of lovely sky-blue tone along much of the obverse rim. This is the type of fully original tone that cannot be...
868The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$440.00
1901-S MS-63.
Cartwheel mint luster surges unabated across each side of this very bright and white key date Morgan dollar. Myriad roller marks appear on the left side of the obverse and across Liberty’s cheek in a...
865The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$600.00
1901-S MS-64.
This sparkling example from the first year of the twentieth century exhibits a lavish vibrancy. Exquisite russet-gold toning serves to further complement its satinlike surfaces. No obtrusive marks...
765The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$450.00
1901-S MS-63.
Full luster circles the surfaces of this difficult-in-high-grade date. There are not as many marks in the fields as is often encountered with the MS-63 grade, but some marks on Liberty's face...
766The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$575.00
1901-S MS-64.
Both sides of this lovely dollar are so lustrous, it was recently almost voted in as another planet. Well, maybe a micro planet like Pluto. Russet tones adorn the peripheries of both the obverse and...
935The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$360.00
1901-S NGC MS-61.
This scarcer San Francisco issue has a moderate number of ticks and scuffs compared to those typically observed in this grade. Its surfaces are basically untoned and velvetlike with the detailing...
