(About The Images)
1882-O PCGS MS-65. 1882-O PCGS MS-65.
Lot Title: 1882-O PCGS MS-65.
Description: Extensive windmill luster whips around the fields on either side, vibrant and energized by the clean surfaces and exuberant strike. Indeed, the sharpness is almost stunning for a New Orleans dollar, with every single strand of hair perfectly delineated over Liberty's ear, and the eagle's breast feathers entirely detailed, albeit lightly affected by roll friction. That is one whale of a strike! To call this coin a "gem" is almost understating its eye-appeal, with the only distraction being that of a couple of slightly dulled yellow areas (and they are minor). 1882-O is very common in lower grades, even up through MS-64, but MS-65 examples make a huge leap upward in value. (PCGS# 007136)

850The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$210.00
1882-O/S (VAM-4, TOP 100, Recessed S), and an 1899, both NGC AU-58.
Checkered Collection. The O/S shows quite nicely for the 1882-O/S VAM-4, and the coin provides strong near-mint brilliance. The same can be said of 1899, as it shows only mild abrading on each side...
790The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$925.00
1882-O PCGS MS-65.
Drop-dead pretty, with something of a cameo presentation due to tightly frosted motifs that rest against splendid, radiant fields. This is one of those coins that offers up an endless supply of...
980The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$600.00
Fourteen 1882-O/S, all XF/AU.
The consignor fancies himself a cherry-picking enthusiast and has managed to amass this group of O/S dollar in better grade by persistently searching through dealer inventory and show stock. All...
730The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$675.00
1882-O PCGS MS-65.
1882-O illustrates the classic situation of a silver dollar that is common up through MS-64, then suddenly becomes expensive higher grade. Add about 700% to the price of a nice MS-64 to figure out...
731The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$725.00
1882-O PCGS MS-65.
Here is the classic case once again of a New Orleans dollar that is common as blueberries at a Waffle House -- except at the MS-65 grade, where the price multiplies by a factor of ten. There is no...
655The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,650.00
1882-O/S (VAM -5, Top 100, O/S "Broken") PCGS MS-64.
The famous O/S reverse die was well used, having been paired up with three different obverses, and VAM-5 represents the final appearance of that die. Thus, it is the LDS (late die state) for the...
774The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$900.00
1882-O/S NGC MS-63.
Remarkable for variety collectors, the over punched mintmark can actually be discerned without a glass, which is indicative of an earlier die for this popular O/S. Surfaces seem cleaner than expected...
592The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$825.00
1882-O NGC MS-65 and 1904-O NGC MS 65 PL.
Both of these New Orleans products feature a little something "extra" in the eye-appeal department. 1882-O displays a vivid and very attractive crescent of rainbow iridescence that sweeps down the...
763The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$675.00
1882-O NGC MS-65.
A long crescent of vivid rainbow color adorns the lower right quadrant of the obverse, leaving the balance of the coin generally ivory-white. Cartwheel luster is slightly subdued by the original...
643The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$825.00
1882-O PCGS MS-65.
Alabaster surface tone is accented at the top of the obverse by a brief incursion of vivid, bright rainbow colors that reflects nearly perfect progression through the spectrum, and this same pleasing...
676The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$525.00
1882-O and four additional PCGS MS-63 DMPL Morgan dollars
1882-O, 1884-O, 1885, 1889, and 1898. Individually, none of these Morgan dollars qualifies as a rare coin, but teamed up together, they form an imposing presentation of brilliant quality and stunning...
677The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$725.00
1882-O Morgan dollar, NGC MS-65
One can only imagine that NGC must have been tempted to add their "star" designation to this coin's grade. The obverse displays a lovely crescent of nectar-gold, cinnamon and blueberry tones in a...
748The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$625.00
1882-O NGC MS-65.
Though very common throughout most grades, 1882-O becomes downright difficult at the Gem level. It has a light vanilla patina and fully Gem luster, but only slightly better struck than a typical...
749The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$170.00
1882-O/S VAM-3. NGC MS-61.
The overmintmark is quite distinct for this Top 100 Variety, and it can be detected either with a low power glass or an unaided eye. Besides having some moderate marks, there is some grainlike...
744The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$650.00
1882-O PCGS MS-65.
This is a no questions MS-65. The strike is nice, the luster prominent, and the overall quality top notch. A very light neutral patina is present.
