(About The Images)
1901-S SEGS VG-8. 1901-S SEGS VG-8.
Lot Title: 1901-S SEGS VG-8.
Description: This quarter is the key date to twentieth century quarters, bar none. I would grade this coin Good-6. The rims are full on both sides, and the dentils still show. The "L," "Y," and half of the "T" are visible along the headband. The color is antique silver and charcoal with the devices being light in color and the fields being darker. Free of any noteworthy marks, so the only issue on this coin is wear. This is above average for the issue and grade.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1901-S NGC AG-3.
When "AG+" becomes a recognized grade level, this might be the poster coin as it sports a complete rim on the obverse, and probably a third of the reverse rim remains separated from the peripheral...

1901-S PCGS VG-8 CAC.
Captain Green Collection. Ex-Scotsman The Collectors Auction 2012; lot 540; October 2012. The headband features "L" and "Y" fully, and just enough of other letters to answer requirements of VG-8 for...
655The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$6,500.00
1901-S NGC VG-8.
Wine And Dine Collection. The "holy grail" of the Barber quarter series is a 1901-S with full LIBERTY, yet this VG-8 example provides representation for approximately three-plus letters in total, as...
540The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$8,250.00
1901-S PCGS VG-8 CAC.
Liberty's headband readily shows Li...tY, procuring the requisite three-letter equivalent required of the VG-8 grade. Dusky salmon-grey patina securely dominates the reverse, but yields to lighter...
524The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$8,500.00
1901-S PCGS VG-8 CAC.
L...Y shows on the headband, accompanied by a portion of "I" and "T", which leads expressly to the VG-8 grade. Surfaces strongly display original silver-tan patina, lightening toward dove-grey across...
633The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$2,050.00
1901-S NGC Fair-2.
Valuable in any grade, even a 1901-S grading only "fair" has substantial value. To its credit, the obverse borders on grading fully "good", with less than 20% of the rim merged into peripheral design...
490The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$3,900.00
1901-S PCGS GD-4.
The obverse rim is full, and four letters in the reverse motto are still present despite considerable wear. Part of the reverse rim merges into the lettering, but just enough separation remains to...
387The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$2,700.00
1901-S PCGS AG-3.
As is often the case for this particular issue, the obverse seems to grade a point higher than the reverse, since it features full obverse rims, but there is no separation between the reverse rim and...
639The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$2,300.00
1901-S PCGS AG-3.
Though the obverse benefits from strong, complete rims, the reverse rim merges with nearly the entire peripheral lettering, yielding the correct PCGS grade of AG-3. Only one trivial circulation mark...
451The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$4,500.00
1901-S PCGS GD-4.
The obverse rim is entirely raised up from the fields, though it is admittedly a hint weak at 8:00, while the reverse rim is 80% complete. This is a completely and fully original coin that has seen no...
483The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$1,500.00
1901-S PCI AG-3.
This lot presents the key date to the Barber quarter series. It is rare and desirable in all grade levels. This particular specimen shows no trace of damage, only honorable wear from its...
523The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$2,600.00
1901-S PCI AG-3.
This is the key date to the Barber Quarter series with a mere mintage of 72,664. It is rare in any condition. This specimen has no noticeable detriments, just respectable wear. Both the date and...
493The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$2,200.00
1901-S ANACS AG-3 Details Cleaned.
This coin, which is housed in an ANACS AG-3 Cleaned holder, looks much better than the grade. It has a full obverse rim with a strong date. Some eye detail is still visible. The reverse has parted...
